The trip is starting to seem real... Trailer assembly today

Although most of us are expecting to bike almost all the way from Ottawa to St. Martins (when not doing our driving shifts), we need to be able to drive back with all 10 bikes.

Steve T. and I worked on assembling the trailer today. We managed to attached 8 bikes using short Yakima bars clamped down with u-bolts to act as roof rails, and long Yakima bars attached with feet designed to attach to roof rails. We've got a variety of roof-mount bike carriers mounted across the trailer.

So... The Miata is not the official sag-wagon for the trip, but it did serve for the test drive today. None of the bikes fell off...

Clearly, that deserves another beer.
